More about Paul J Tines, Principal
At Choate, Paul was a member of the Academic Council and worked with the other department heads and the Dean of Academic Affairs in designing and implementing all curricula. He was named to the Academic and Student Life Steering Committee, which, at the request of the Board of Trustees, developed a five-year strategic plan for academic and residential life. A significant outcome of that plan was the Arts Concentration Program, designed for gifted students in the visual and performing arts who wanted to pursue their talent in the context of an academically rigorous program. In addition, Paul created and ran the Choate Rosemary Hall Summer Arts Conservatory.

Paul is a member of the Association of Performing Arts Presenters and has worked directly with more than 75 arts management agencies across the country. As the presenter of the Paul Mellon Arts Center, he booked performers such as the American Ballet Theater, Chicago City Limits, Side by Side, Hot Club of San Francisco, Vienna Boys Choir, Stephen Schwartz and Debbie Shapiro Gravitte. Aquila Theater Company, Grand Derangement, Kate Clinton, the Freddy Cole Jazz Quartet, Harlem Gospel Choir and George Winston.

Paul was the Executive Director for Broadway Asia Entertainment’s Musical Theater Academies in China and South Korea, developing six musical theater academies for college-age students, as well as summer camps and weekend programming for junior and high school students and has created arts curricula for the Edison Project in New York City.
In New Orleans, Paul served on the boards of the Contemporary Arts Center and the Arts Council of New Orleans and was on the YA/YA Advisory Council Board (an after-school arts and professional enrichment program that sets New Orleans youth on positive, productive paths), in New Orleans. Paul’s board work focused on increasing art and educational programming and partnerships, increasing endowments, creating gift-giving opportunities, and nurturing town-gown relationships in New Orleans and across the country. He has also served on the boards of the Bach Society in Baltimore, and The Fillmore School for the Arts in Washington, D.C. Paul is a member of the National Arts Club, the Association of Arts Presenters, and the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
